Welcome to Prague Physics Challenge Homepage
Prague Physics Challenge (PPCh) is an international physics competition
aimed at advanced high school and university students. The competition is organized remotely; there are sets of problems published on this website more-or-less periodically and contestants send us their solutions via e-mail. To view the current set, go to the last set of problems.
After the deadline of a particular set, participants get their solutions back corrected and evaluated.
The primary goal of PPCh is to offer you interesting and more complex physics problems than those usual in schools and universities. Problems have various difficulty (and corresponding maximum of points) in order to offer problem-solving experience to a wider variety of students interested in physics (we do not want to restrict anybody from solving our problems because of some limits of reached physical knowledge; on the contrary, our goal is to give a motivation to enrich the knowledge of competitors).
On request, we can give you some hints to a particular problem for a cost of a points loss, but increasing chances of solving the problem.
If you want to participate, you can start now by seeing the current set of problems.
News
| 30.9.2009 | The deadline for the second set of problems delayed. Because of the mistake that the deadline wasn't written in the problems page we have reset it to 15.10.2009 (this deadline is final and is written in the problem page). |
| 9.8.2009 | Results and solutions of the first set are released. It seemed that the competition came near to its death, but now it is going to be revived. This was a hard year for us and we would like to make an excuse to everybody involved for our unreliable behaviour. For severel reasons, this (that is, the first) year of the competition will be sort of “test” year – we plan only one other set of problems this year which will be released by the beginning of October. During Christmas, second year of this competition will start. This year will be taken seriously with exact deadlines and 5 series of problems per year.
The deadline for the second set of problems has been set to the 30th September 2009. |
| 22.3.2009 | Second set of problems is finally released. We are really sorry for the delay between the previous set and this one. Results and solutions of the first set of problems will be published during next week. |
| 21.2.2009 | Don't forget that only two days remain to send your solutions. We will accept your solutions even few days after the deadline, but there will be certainly some penalization (in form of points loss). |
| 17.1.2009 | We have set the deadline for the first set of problems – it's 23.2.2009, 11:59 pm. |
| 1.1.2009 | 3rd problem has been updated – an explaining image has been added. |
| 25.12.2008 | Probably the most important news today is that this site has finally been created and published. Second (but maybe more important) news is that first set of problems has been released. |
